Foundations for Computable Topology

چکیده
Foundations should be designed for the needs of mathematics and not vice versa. We propose a technique for doing this that exploits the correspondence between category theory and logic and is potentially applicable to several mathematical disciplines. This method is applied to devising a new paradigm for general topology, called Abstract Stone Duality. We express the duality between algebra and geometry as an abstract monadic adjunction that we turn into a new type theory. To this we add an equation that is satisfied by the Sierpiński space, which plays a key role as the classifier for both open and closed

Algebra and Topology in Lambda Calculus
The untyped lambda calculus was introduced around 1930 by Church [11] as part of an investigation in the formal foundations of mathematics and logic. Although lambda calculus is a very basic language, it is sufficient to express all the computable functions. The process of application and evaluation reflects the computational behavior of many modern functional programming languages, which expla...
متن کاملIrreversible computable functions
The strong relationship between topology and computations has played a central role in the development of several branches of theoretical computer science: foundations of functional programming, computational geometry, computability theory, computable analysis. Often it happens that a given function is not computable simply because it is not continuous. In many cases, the function can moreover ...
متن کاملComputable structures on topological manifolds
We propose a definition of computable manifold by introducing computability as a structure that we impose to a given topological manifold, just in the same way as differentiability or piecewise linearity are defined for smooth and PL manifolds respectively. Using the framework of computable topology and Type-2 theory of effectivity, we develop computable versions of all the basic concepts neede...
متن کاملComputable Separation in Topology, from T_0 to T_3
This article continues the study of computable elementary topology started in [7]. We introduce a number of computable versions of the topological T0 to T3 separation axioms and solve their logical relation completely. In particular, it turns out that computable T1 is equivalent to computable T2. The strongest axiom SCT3 is used in [2] to construct a computable metric.
متن کاملComputable Separation in Topology, from T0 to T2
This article continues the study of computable elementary topology started in [Weihrauch and Grubba 2009]. For computable topological spaces we introduce a number of computable versions of the topological separation axioms T0, T1 and T2. The axioms form an implication chain with many equivalences. By counterexamples we show that most of the remaining implications are proper. In particular, it t...
